Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015. The Mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households by the year 2022, when Nation completes 75 years of its Independence.
RGRHCL is specially designed for the poor citizens of the state. Ashraya Yojana is the official portal of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited Housing Schemes in Karnataka, through which one can apply online.
In 2000, RGRHCL was formed by the Karnataka government as a ‘special purpose vehicle’ to help weaker societies buy their own houses with the central and state government housing schemes. Residents of Karnataka are entitled to avail RGRHCL scheme, and it unfolds the affordable housing schemes from time to time.
Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) envisages a “Slum Free India” with inclusive and equitable cities in which every citizen has access to basic civic infrastructure and social amenities and decent shelter.
The scheme is applicable to all slums within a city, whether notified or non-notified (including identified and recognized), whether on lands belonging to Central Government or its Undertakings, Autonomous bodies created under the Act of Parliament, State Government or its Undertakings, Urban Local Bodies or any other public agency and private sector. It is also applicable to “urbanized villages” inside the planning area of the city, urban homeless and pavement dwellers.
